2010 Frank Zappa Day -

Dedication and Concert

On September 19, 2010, the people of Baltimore and visitors from around the country and globe gathered to dedicate a monument to the memory and cultural impact of the legendary Frank Zappa, in celebration of the life and legacy of one of the most influential musicians, composers and cultural icons of all time. The events marked the 25th anniversary of Zappa's landmark testimony on Capitol Hill in favor of free speech and artists' rights in the face of congressional censorship hearings. Clearpath Entertainment conceived, planned and produced this day-long schedule of events in support of the city's dedication of a bust donated by a Lithuanian fan club, including a free outdoor concert attended by 5,000 people and a proclamation by the Mayor officially declaring September 19 Frank Zappa Day and naming the avenue in front of the statue Frank Zappa Way.

Working directly with the Zappa family, and with only 6 short weeks of lead time, we put together a plan that closed a major transportation artery for the day, brought Grammy Award-wining Zappa Plays Zappa to town, hosted an international delegation from Lithuania and gained broad national and international media attention.
